Making Memories — part deux

Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David.
Luke 2:4

Tonight, we walked through Bethlehem.

Okay, so it wasn’t the real Bethlehem. But it was still great.

My hubby, kids and I took a journey back through Bethlehem via a great presentation put on by Forest Hills UMC in Concord, NC.

The sunday school rooms were transformed into homes (visited by angels), the halls were lit by torches and protected by Roman soldiers. The other rooms were transformed into the marketplace. What a fabulous, wonderful collaboration!

At the end, we followed the wisemen to a little scene with a beautiful live manger.
The baby was asleep until the moment we were told to “go in peace”. Then the baby’s eyes opened. Beautiful. Just beautiful.

The folks who participated have done a good thing. They’ve reminded us of the reason we celebrate.

Emmanuel. God with us.

  1. Hmmm. I wonder if any church does that in my neck of the woods. I’ll have to ask around.

    It sounds wonderful.

    Merry Christmas,
    Jean
