Ezekiel is not forgotten

I am going to go back to Ezekiel in a few posts – but for now – I’m still on a friendship kick…so bear with me. 🙂

I received a phone call from another dear friend today. We’ll call her SASSY. She lives 2 hours away and called me on her lunch break. As it turns out, both of us had been thinking of each other during the last two weeks.

Has that ever happened to you? The person that has been on your mind calls you up, sends an email or shows up on your doorstep?

I only get to see her once or twice a year, but we talk way more than that (and still not often enough). Being able to chat with her makes the distance between us not quite as bad. And though we haven’t seen each other since last summer, it doesn’t seem that way. When we talk, we catch up without missing a beat.

Why is it, then, that we (and yes, I’m including myself in this sentence) have such a hard time being that intimately acquainted with the One who calls us friend? We can’t see Him, but we can have constant communication and conversations with him if we so choose. Yet – we don’t. We save those conversations for the hard moments – the tough hours and the “what am I going to do now?” days.

When we’ve been “away” and haven’t communicated in that “best friend” capacity in a while, He still desires relationship with us. He wants us to talk to Him. It’s that simple. Why else would He have gone to the lengths that He did? For the only reason that makes any sense at all… He loves us. We don’t deserve it…He just does.

And if He loves us like that – why can’t we fall into that love and stay there?

Just thought I’d pop over and say “Hi” from one faculty member to another. Write2Ignite!

    Can’t wait to meet everyone.

Friends like that are rare. You’re so blessed to have two (or more). Most of us can’t claim even one such friend.

Plus, you have Jesus – the greatest Friend of all.

    Blessings,
    Jean
