writing for children

Have you ever wondered why some people can’t seem to move forward with their lives? Have you ever been in that same place in your own life? Maybe you were chasing shadows… or maybe they were chasing you?

The photo in this post was taken at the research campus in Kannapolis NC. The shadows seemed to jump off the wall in the afternoon sun. I am always amazed at how quickly shadows change direction as the sun is rising and setting. But when the sun is overhead, at full strength – there is barely any shadow at all.

But for us, when the mornings are hard…and the nights are long… God’s presence, His light, can chase away the shadows if we let Him. No matter how strong the shadows seem – God’s light is stronger.

My prayer for today: May your days and nights be full of the LIGHT and shadow free!

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12 (KJV)

“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” AND “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[b] sin. ” I John 1:5, 7

  1. Great combination of photography and devotion. Clever! Keep it up! Thanks so much. It’s wonderful that there’s a way to walk in the light even when the sun isn’t up. Follow Him.

  2. Thank you for sharing this unique and beautiful photo. You are so right about the light. Nothing is more healing. After my cancer diagnoses and surgery I would lay in the bed and wait to see the sun rise. It would rise and shine directly on my face and I could feel God’s healing taking place. We must remember what creates the shadows and how they are created…by the SON! Keep up the good work Donna and be encouraged. God is using you in a mighty way. Elaine

  3. Y’all… thank you. God is good – and I am so thankful for all the light He has poured into my life and the “shadowy” places!

Linda – you wrote, “Follow Him.” What power and truth in such two little words!
Elaine – You are an inspiration to me! God is using YOU in a powerful way! Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us. Hugs!
